A year and a half has now passed since I posted an item here on “The Monkey Cage” calling into question John Sides’s taste in popular music and speculating that he would really like this spectacularly horrible cover:
And now comes word — via Andrew Sullivan — of yet another oh-so-memorable re-make. Somebody has has dared to poke fun at the timeless masterpiece by adding subtitles and changing the lyrics. How utterly disrespectful..
I’m sending this out with a special dedication to John, who seems to have temporarily forsaken us, and for the enjoyment of everyone else. If you’re lucky, you might be able to get the tune out of your mind sometime in the next week or so.
