
We are thrilled to announce the third cohort of Good Authority fellows. We look forward to sharing with you their insights across the wide range of their expertise, from opposition parties to inequality and organized crime as well as activist exiles, among other topical areas. Our fellows’ research and expertise offer more coverage and analysis on important events in Africa, Latin America, Asia, Eastern Europe and, of course, the United States. Meet our nine new fellows:
Maxim Alyukov is a Leverhulme Early Career Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Manchester, and an incoming lecturer (assistant professor) in international relations at the University of St Andrews. His research focuses on authoritarian politics, political communication, and public opinion, with a particular emphasis on Russia and the post-Soviet region.
Kelci Burckhardt is an assistant professor of political science at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. Her research focuses on the role of political parties in democratization and democratic backsliding.
Geneva Cole is an assistant professor in the School of Government and Public Policy at the University of Arizona. She studies race and politics in the United States with a focus on identity, human rights, and transitional justice. Her research has been published in outlets including Perspectives on Politics, the Journal of Elections, Public Opinion and Parties, and Social Science Quarterly.
Omar García-Ponce is an associate professor of political science and international affairs at George Washington University. His research examines the political and socioeconomic drivers of criminal and political violence, particularly in Latin America, and their consequences for governance, development, and public policy. His work has appeared in the American Journal of Political Science, the American Political Science Review, the Annual Review of Political Science, and World Politics, among other journals.
Roya Izadi is an assistant professor of political science at the University of Rhode Island. She is the director of the Security Forces, Rights, and Society (SFRS) Lab and serves as associate director of the Center for Nonviolence and Peace Studies. She studies civil-military relations, particularly armies off the battlefield and into domestic spheres, to better understand how military power reshapes politics, economy, and society.
Christina M. Kinane is an assistant professor of political science at Yale University, a research fellow at the Institution of Social and Policy Studies, Faculty Director of the Millstone Fellowship in Public Service, and a Faculty Fellow at the Miller Center for Public Affairs. Her research focuses on American political institutions, with a particular emphasis on the executive branch, separation of powers, and the administrative state.
Erin Lockwood is an assistant professor of political science at the University of California, Irvine. Her research and teaching focus on financial regulation, global economic inequality, and the global governance of risk and uncertainty. Her forthcoming book in Routledge’s RIPE Series in Global Political Economy examines how the market for financial derivatives developed and resisted public regulation prior to the 2008 global financial crisis and the consequences of that development for the post-crisis financial system.
Elizabeth Plantan is an assistant professor of political science at Stetson University. She studies civil society, authoritarian regimes, and environmental affairs, with a focus on the comparative and international politics of China and Russia.
Neeraj Prasad is associate professor of political science at the University of Amsterdam, where he is also affiliated with the Amsterdam Institute of Social Science Research and the Political Institutions and Identities program. His research examines how political and economic structures shape democratic competition and resilience, and how nationalism and state formation influence patterns of inclusion and conflict. Much of his work focuses on India and has appeared in The Journal of Politics, the Journal of Peace Research, and Electoral Studies.
