This week: In the British general election, the Scottish National Party rises amid a Labor trouncing. To mark the occasion, I offer you this 1981 live version of a top rant by The Fall: ‘The N.W.R.A.’ (i.e., ‘The North Will Rise Again’).
Originally, the warped closing track on the group’s classic third album “Grotesque” (1980), it is — in the words of The Annotated Fall — frontman Mark E. Smith’s “rich and baffling song … about an insurrection in the north of Britain.”
