Chris Hayes had a very gracious response to my post, Alex Tabarrok’s post, and Razib Khan’s post on racism and the political parties. Hayes goes on to discuss how voter identification laws may disproportionately affect racial minorities. There is some evidence for this in the political science literature (although whether voter identification laws reduce turnout itself is harder to determine). See this post and links therein.
